How to set up BOM Weather app warning notifications

Severe weather can develop quickly and threaten lives and property. You can reduce the impact of severe weather by getting ready before it happens. We provide regular forecasts and warnings through our website and app.

It's easy to stay up to date with warnings – download the BOM Weather app and set up warning notifications to your phone or tablet. The app is free and ad free.

Get warning notifications for up to 3 locations

This means you can easily keep an eye on:

  • what's happening in your area
  • what support might be needed for a loved one in another region
  • what to prepare for an upcoming trip.

How to set up notifications

1. Download and open the BOM Weather app.

Link to Apple App Store. Links says 'Download on the App Store'.

2. Tap the menu (3 lines) in the top right corner.

3. Tap Notifications.

4. Tap + Add location.

5. Use the search function to add up to 3 locations. 

6. Tap each location to select the warnings you want to receive for that location.

7. Enable push notifications for the BOM Weather app in your device’s settings.

Once installed and enabled, a notification will appear on your device's screen whenever a warning is issued for one of your 3 locations.

Tropical cyclone and tsunami warnings are only available for relevant locations.
